A Literature Study on 3d Topology Models for the 3d Spatial Analysis

Most current commercial GIS vendors are added function of 3D analysis for the reality visualization more and more. 3D GIS vendors are focus on the 3D visually representation of the terrain and buildings. These are limited in cityscape and landscape, navigating simulation, and 3D visibility analysis. Recently, some researches of 3D spatial analysis is presented cause that the geo-spatial DBMS, e.g. Oracle, PostGIS, etc. could be supported the storage and management for the 3D spatial data. Generally 3D spatial data organized 3D geometry model and 3D topology model as to describe (or define) 3D spatial object and to explain the relationship with each objects. Especially the 3D topology model is positively necessary model for 3D spatial analysis, because it has explained relationship with each object in 3D Euclid space. In this study, we reviewed and surveyed the studies focus on the 3D spatial analysis. For 3D spatial analysis, it must be considered having 3D topology model in 2D or 3D space as surface, above surface, and below surface. Also, we follow the general process from design of data model to application of 3D spatial analysis using 3D topology model. Furthermore we can seek the direction of 3D topology models for 3D spatial analysis in three spaces (surface, above surface, and below surface).
